About This Spot

Stepping into Penny’s Diner in Low Moor feels like slipping into a familiar scene from a quiet American classic: a welcoming 24-hour spot where time slows just enough to savor simple, honest moments. The space hums gently with the rhythms of the day and night—whether it’s early morning quiet or the easy flow of late-night travelers stopping by, the pace remains comforting and unhurried.

There’s a warmth here that’s woven through the vinyl booths, checkerboard floors, and a well-loved counter where local regulars and wanderers alike pause for a meal that feels made just for them. The friendly faces behind the counter, some who’ve been here through dawn and dark, embody a steady kindness that invites you to relax and stay a while.

The air is often scented with familiar, comforting aromas—freshly cooked hashbrowns, crispy onion rings, and the unmistakable allure of a morning skillet or a perfectly grilled patty melt. The menu, playfully displayed above on a whiteboard, hints at the kind of food that’s rooted in tradition, yet crafted with care for every craving that hits, any time of day or night. From the kind of hearty breakfasts that set you up for a busy day to indulgent burgers and tender chicken fried steak served alongside golden tater tots, the offerings invite a slower moment of enjoyment.

Conversations flow easily here, whether shared between families starting their day or travelers recounting their journey over a rich vanilla milkshake. There’s a quiet pride in the comfort food served up—familiar, nostalgic flavors that echo the diner’s sincere and unpretentious spirit.

At Penny’s, the atmosphere feels like a bridge between the past and present, a place where the classic diner experience is lovingly preserved but never feels stuck in time. It’s a local refuge that welcomes anyone seeking straightforward food, genuine smiles, and a space to recharge, no matter the hour.

This is a 24 hour diner that is part of the nieghboring hotel. The food here was good and the ladies that were working were friendly. The decor of the diner was spot on. Guest that needed to check in after hours would do so at the diner.

This was our first time to Penny's Diner as we were traveling through Virginia. Jose, our waitor was great. The staff were very friendly. The vibe was awesome, a true classic diner inside and out. The food was typical fare, but it was really good. They had their menu on a QR code scan, but if you look above you, you can see the menu written on the dry-erase board on the ceiling. If you're traveling along the interstate through Virginia, it's worth a stop.

First, I never eat burgers. We were staying next door to this diner and when I saw "bacon lovers cheeseburger" on the menu it just called to me. It was one of the best burgers I've ever had! Cooked perfectly with a delicious buttery bun. I overheard our server say he'd been there since 6am(Raul) and this was nearly 10pm! Still, he was pleasant and attentive and got our orders spot on. We liked it so much that we went back the next night. Thanks to the cook and the staff for being awesome. Christy from SC.

Service was fast and attentive. Coffee was so-so. My husband liked his burger. I got biscuits and gravy and a piece of ham with 2 eggs. The eggs were cooked correctly as I ordered. B&G wasn't the best, just packet country gravy with no sausage in it. The diner was clean, as well as the restrooms.

I wish I could give the food 6 stars. Honestly some of the best food I've had in months. Gives a real 50s diner feel. Do yourself a favor if you are in the area and stop in. It's worth it. I've been eating here every chance I get. I swear it keeps getting better. I wish I could try something new but what I've already ordered is so good it's hard to try what has to be a menu full of delicious items.
